About ICO to PNG Converter
ICO is a container format built for Windows and browser icons, and most ordinary image editors and viewers will not open one. Converting to PNG gives you a normal, lossless, universally supported image with the icon's transparent background intact — which is what you need in order to actually edit a favicon you inherited, or reuse an existing icon somewhere else.
Add up to 15 ICO files (5MB each) and click Convert; PNG is already the output. Processing runs locally in your browser. Download each PNG or take the batch as a ZIP.
An ICO file can hold several resolutions of the same icon in one container — commonly 16, 32, 48 and 256 pixels. The conversion gives you a single PNG from the file, so do not expect every embedded size to come out separately. Because the source is an icon, the PNG will be small; scaling it up afterwards will look soft, since there is no extra detail to recover. If you are rebuilding a favicon, edit this PNG at the largest size available and then convert back with the PNG to ICO tool.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why convert an ICO file to PNG?
Most image editors and design tools can't open .ico files directly. Converting to PNG gives you an editable, widely-supported format to redesign or resize an existing favicon.
My ICO has multiple sizes inside it — which one do I get?
This tool extracts the frame your browser renders for display. If you need a specific embedded resolution, check the pixel dimensions of the PNG output before using it.
Is transparency preserved when converting ICO to PNG?
Yes. Both formats support an alpha channel, so any transparent background in the icon carries over.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser.
